Today we will use the RoadPro portable stove, to cook some pork spare ribs, and pinto beans.
Why they call it a stove and not an oven I have no idea.
Anyhow, this will take about 4 to 5 hours to cook.
This is enough food for a single person, if you're a really big eater add a few more beans.
It is a sound idea to stop every few hours to check that it’s not boiling dry, and add water as necessary.
Ingredients:
You will need a small package of country style ribs
I buy a package of 6 for $5 to $6 at my local grocery store.
For this recipe Use three and freeze The other three.
Three baby carrots, cut into small pieces.
About 1/2 cup of pinto beans, to be honest, I just use a hand full.
Garlic powder. ( 1/2 tablespoon).
You can use fresh, but I like spices I can keep in my truck that won’t go bad.
2 tablespoons of dehydrated onions.
1 teaspoon of soy sauce.
1 teaspoon of chicken bouillon .
Use one of the large loaf pans in your portable stove.
( Please read this blog entry to find out about using your stove if you haven't yet.)
Add approximately 1 cup of water, the garlic, onion, chicken bullion, and soy sauce to the pan.
Lay three of the ribs in the pan.
Pour the handful of beans and the carrots on top and mix them in around the ribs.
Place the pan into the portable stove, close the lid and strap to a level surface in your truck, and plug it in, it cooks best when plugged in LOL.
Like I mentioned before stop to pee once or twice and check to make certain it is not boiling dry. If it seems low, add water you will soon figure out how much based on how soupy you like your beans.
In about 5 hours your fresh, hot, and delicious home made meal is ready to enjoy.
I do want to mention that.
The food will most likely be cooked in three hours, the reason I say 5 is because I prefer very tender meats, and soft beans.
You can always check on one of your pit stops to discover if it is well cooked enough to please you.
As always keep the shiny side up and be safe out there.
